Not quite 29, but 24 instead.

This has been challenging and fun.
Many thanks to our wonderful hostess.

29 FACES IN SEPTMBER WRAP UP

Well, I did not quite make it for the full month of
30 Faces for September.
I have been devoting the majority of my painting time
 to the Annie Hammon class.
Annie teaches techniques using acrylic paint.

Face #15

I love acrylics but painting faces and facial contours in acrylic is a bit challenging.
I still have one more painting to finish from her class and one more exercise.

This painting was poetry inspired.  I used the only line I could remember from poetry class in school, Lord Byron's poem "She Walks in Beauty Like the Night".

Faces #16, #17 and #18

The first face is a sketch that I made
in preparation for one of Annie's lessons
and the second one is the finished face.
However I have not finished the entire painting.
Number 18 is a sketch that I may use later in a painting.

Faces #19, 20, 21, 22 23 and 24

It is October!
This morning, here in South Texas
we actually felt a chill in the air!
So refreshing.
Numbers 19 - 24 are my current paintings
for Halloween and El Dia de los Muertos.
Happy October and the beginning of Fall.

CATCHING UP AND ANNIE'S CLASS

Face #8 for 29 Faces

The entire painting

I am taking Annie Hamman's fabulous
Soulful Story Art online class.
This is my first painting following her guidance.
The theme is Threads of My Life.  The photographs
that I take are strung on a thread,
my camera is in my hand
and of course, there is my cat.

#9, 10, 11  and 12

These are some sketches of faces
that will perhaps turn into ideas
for some future paintings.

.
Face # 13
My second painting in the course.
The theme was Land of Hope.
Somehow it turned rather Gaelic
with the tartan headscarf, tree of life
and ravens.

# 14  Siamese Kitten
A break from the people faces.
I love drawing animals.
This one is on a round wooden disk.
I made it for a series of magnets
that I am painting.

One evening we went to the Kemah Boardwalk
to watch the pretty boats sail in and to see the lights.
These photos were taken with my cell phone.
Ooooooo  Pretty colored lights.

MORE FACES

I got started late so I am playing catch up.

 #4 Searching

This was done for a word association challenge found on Gypseefiire's Weekly Challenge.  The object is to incorporate as many of the words as possible from a supplied list.
I love these challenges.

#5 Hawaiian Dancer

This one was drawn from a photo on Virtual Sketchwalk.  The photo was supplied by Sean-Michael Gettys.
Pencil and alcohol marker

#6 Memories

All from imagination, a collage of papers painting.

#7 Jennifer

I need practice creating accurate likenesses.  This is Jennifer Lawrence...almost.

Faces

September 15, 2016

A question for all creative types no matter what one's choice of creative outlet might be.  What do I want to do today with the precious remaining time that I  have for my own endeavors. Faces!

Pencil drawing of pensive gorilla, Face #1

Face #2

Danaerys Targarian from The Game of Thrones
and her black dragon, or his eye anyway.
The stone texture in the background was made
by cutting stone shapes and gluing them
to the background before painting.

Face #3
Steampunk Lady and Her Pet.
I did this one for a Steampunk exhibit
but alas, she did not sell.

What I have been doing...
It has been quite a while since I have posted.
 I have been occupied.
We had a great visit with my daughter and grandchildren
and we had lots of fun.
